National Print Competition 2020

The national Print Competition for the first round digital entries will be open from the 1st of November 2019 to the 1st December 2019

Remember, if you entered your regional competition this year, any images that made it through to the print round will automatically be entered into this National awards, so you don’t need to enter them again, although you are welcome to enter more images if you wish.

The cost is £10 per image for BIPP members and £15 per image for non-members.

Before you can enter your images you will need to have a member profile on the competition site. Files should be submitted at least 4,000 px on the longest side (no borders, keylines, watermarks or identifying information should be included).

Finalist will be asked to print and mount their selected images at either 16”x20” or A3. Prints and will receive an email with the date they need to be at the Preston Office .

Wedding albums will also be submitted at this stage.

Once the judging is completed, we will arrange for the prints to be returned to your regional chair for you to collect. Please be aware we are not able to return the packaging other than the black print boxes.

The digital entries will be viewed and scored by five judges, and if a score of 75 is achieved the photographer will be invited to send a print to Head Office for the second round.

The print judging will be carried out by the five judges at our Preston office under controlled lighting, with prints scored between 1 and 100.

To score a bronze a print will need 80 points, Silver 87 points and Gold 93 points

The photographers with the highest scoring Wedding, Commercial, Portrait and Fine Art images will be become the Wedding, Commercial, Portrait and Fine Art Photographers of the Year. The photographer with the highest overall scoring image will be named BIPP Photographer of the Year.

Judges are not eligible to enter.

Following on from the successful regional awards the categories remain the same. These are professional photography awards, so it goes without saying that unless a category is specifically marked as ‘self-commissioned’ all work must have been commissioned and produced in a professional context. Fine Art images will have been mostly self- commissioned, but should have been created with stock or gallery sale in mind.
